Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) is perennial herb plant from the family Labiates, that grows in South Europe and Mediterranean. Known from the long past as valuable essential oil and healing plant and has wide geographical range.
Good climate and fertility, rich of humus soil, makes easier growing and cultivating of lemon balm, which is a good reason our country to be the second exporter in Europe of a high quality healing herb.
Plant stem is four edged and branched. It is covered with glandular hairs. It reaches height from 30-80 to 70-150 сm.It has a well developed rootstock.
The leaves are in the shape of an egg, serrated, located opposite the twigs.The upper surface is colored in dark green and is flat and bellow they have hairs and is light green.
Blossoms are collected in fake annelid inflorescence, a number from 3 till 10, placed in the bosom of upper leaves of the twig. They can be colored in light yellow, white or pink.
Fruit consists of four one semen, egg shaped walnuts, colored in light brown.
